Building a Brick Fireplace

by kathy jhones

Building a brick fireplace yourself may seem such a hard task to carry out. However, once you have made up your mind to do it, it will not be as hard as it appears. With today's declining economy, the best way to save your income is by carrying out some of these tasks by yourself. All you have to do is purchase the supplies then use them to create your own brick fireplace. To do this, you only require skills. The required materials can be attained through the internet.

To begin with, you have to learn how to construct a brick wall. You will find that doing this is great fun and it is not so hard as compared to constructing a brick house. There are books available in local hardware stores, which will guide you on how to stack up the bricks. This is however not necessary as you can still construct your own structure of bricks. The result may not be as perfect, but you sure will like it.

Secondly, you can construct a solid wooden structure using 2*4s and plywood. After you have done this, purchase a faux texture that will suit your taste. Literally, the structure will look like it was made using stone or marble. The current textures appear real. In fact some of them are real. These are such as stones that have been cut into thin layers, which still cost less than if you were to use a whole stone.

Currently, there are many accessories designed for the fireplaces. This includes the vent less gel, which is used on the drywall. All you have to lean is how to cut as well as apply drywall compound. Covering the area using faux texture does not require you to be an expert at finishing drywall. Simply cut the drywall to the correct dimensions. Once you have done this, nail it then apply the dry wall compound. All that is left is to smooth and sand it before covering it with faux texture. Once you are done with all these, your new fireplace will be good to go.

These skills can also be used in the improvements of fireplace patios as well as in the construction of grills. Anyone with the ability to construct a brick structure will have no difficulties in building their own grills. A grill can also serve as a fireplace at that time when there is a barbecue on the table. All you have to do is discover how to have fun constructing. Then you can turn your home to be the most attractive house in your locality.

There is no need to worry if you place is lacking a fireplace. It only requires you to be a bit crafty and it turns out to be quite inexpensive. The only obstacle could be the "innards". Still, this is no longer a problem as there are electric fireplace inserts available online. They are easily accessible so long as you have the right dimensions for your fireplace.
